Best Day trip to Zaanse Schans from Amsterdam

During our 4days in Amsterdam, we decided to take the opportunity to do a day trip to Zaanse Schans. It's a 15-20minutes journey by train, and easily accessible and convenient way to enjoy beautiful scenery of countryside in Amsterdam. You can also come here by bus, which I think would take longer time around 45 minutes. This amazing place is located in a Dutch down in Zaandam, near Zaandjik; quite close to Amsterdam.

Zaanse Schans is quite popular and has been one of the top tourist attractions in Netherlands. Since we went here in Winter, and could not have the opportunities to go to Keukenkof for the beautiful tulips, coming here is really an excellent idea to enjoy the scenery while discovering the history of the windmills and the village itself.

Plenty of things can be done here. There are Cheese farms, cocoalab, Clogshop, museums etc where you can learn and see how cheese are made, amazing workshop to see how to make the clog, making chocolates and the best part was that you have the chance to taste these all!
Variety of cheese in different flavours, stroopwaffles, chocolates and many more!

Most of the places there are free entry, but there's some need small fee such as to enter the windmill to see up close, museums etc. Not that expensive, about EURO2-4 per adult I think. Information about it are all in the website.

Just beautiful, isn't it!

Amazing windmills still going strong.

Inside the cocoalab, where you can make one your self for just EURO2.50!

Demonstration of making clogs! It's FREE to watch!

The first ever Albert Hein in Amsterdam. Unfortunately, it was closed when we came on that day.

We spent nearly 3hours there! There were cafes and bakery shops where you can buy some delicious food for your lunch. We had a family size of nachos and some hot chocolates, yummy! Decent size of nachos with cheese, I think it's just EURo5 for that! Enough for our light lunch for 5of us for the day! =)

Don't forget to check on their websites in you enquire more information as not all places there open daily, although most of them are. Be safe rather than sorry when planning guys! Here's their website.

Another nice place to capture beautiful photos. On the bridge, when walking from the train station.

Don't forget to take photos with the big clogs outside the Clog Workshop building. There are 2-3 different spots, nice for taking photos for your collections!

Plenty to choose from as souveniors!
