Our 4-Days Itinerary in Amsterdam with kids

Another school break has come, it's Winter and Christmas break for 2 week. Wohoo! Alhamdulillah, another travelling opportunity for us! =)

This time around we went to Amsterdam & B*****.  I would like to share some information on our trip to Amsterdam, 4days with 3 children =) For us, it's just light&easy trip but trying our best to cover as many attractions as possible insyaAllah.

Monday, 24th December.

Arrived at Amsterdam Airport around 10am. We already booked a taxi transfer via booking.com because we got a free airport taxi when booking hotel via their website. Hurray! Save about EURO50! We stayed at City Hotel Amsterdam. Very close to the Rijkmuseum and the Museum Island. For us, the accommodation was good in terms of the room, services and also the location. I would give 4 star for that.

We went straight to the meeting point located near the Burger King at the entrance of the Schipold Airport after collecting our luggages. There's a man waiting with 'Booking.com' signage there. While waiting for our taxi, we quickly ran out to take some photos at the "I Amsterdam" big sign just outside the airport. Ever since December 2018, the famous "I Amsterdam" big sign located at the Rijkmuseum has been removed. So, that's explain why we took that opportunity =)

Left our luggage at the reception since it's not check-in time yet. Went around the area, looking for some options for lunch. Just close to the area, there is a big outlet of Albert Hein groceries store. We stopped by here since the kids are already hungry to get some doughnuts as light lunch before we continue our journey to find a good place to have a proper one.

1) Museum Quarter / Museum Square
We just walking, strolling and sightseeing around the area. We didn't enter any of the museums because we're not a fan of arts. But, if you're interested, I advise you to buy your tickets online earlier because I can see that there's long queue outside the museum.

There are also Stedeljik Museum Modern Art, MOCO Museum and also Diamant Museum. All these have their own specialty and quite famous attractions for tourist.

Had our lunch at Pizza Illa Doner Kebab, walking about 10minutes from our hotel. The food was good and price wise was okay. We had chicken kebab, some fries and drinks. Costs for all 5 of us about EURO27 for 3 kebabs, 2 can of drinks and 2 fries. Alhamdulillah.

Around 2pm, we went back to the hotel to check in and rest for a while.

We started our journey again at about 4.30pm. It's already dark outside. Went back to the Museum Quarter area to get some GVB pass tickets for us. We decided to buy 3Day GVB pass for 2of us and buy 1Day GVB tickets for the kids (3Days). Cost for the GVB pass: 2 Adults& 2 Kids (EURO19 (*2)  + EURO4 (*3Days*2kids) = (38+24) = EURO62. All this for unlimited journey using all GVB transport; we mainly just use GVB tram. Very convenient. If you choose not to buy the multiday pass, you can buy ticket for 1 hour or 24hour ticket in the tram. First time ever we see staff selling tickets on tram. Need to tap each time you board and leave the tram. Kids were excited, got to tap in and out by themselves. =)

There's the counter in the tram. Usually at the back of the tram, doors open for entrance.

We tried an Asian Halal restaurant called Take A Wok; located quite close to Illa Doner Kebab for dinner. Interesting concept, where you got to choose your base, meats and sauce for your meal. Depends on your preference and also your budget. We had 2 fried noodles, fried rice. Our dinner was cheaper than lunch. Costs us about EURO24.

Tuesday, 24th Dec.

After breakfast at the hotel, we started off the day around 9am. Took the tram to the Dam Square area. Had some photos and do a bit of shopping for the kids at Primark =)

We had dinner at this one Halal restaurant; just few shops behind the famous chips/fries in Amsterdam. The food was nice and okay but the owner of the shop was a bit bossy. Didn't allow us to bring stroller close to our table, wanted us to park at the front of the shop. We could understand that it might be due to the limited area in the shop. At the end, we found out that our stroller was dirty with kebab! Our stroller was very close to the kebab where they slice the meat. Can you imagine how our stroller looks like? Covered in kebab meats!Lucky we had a rain cover on top of it, make it easier to clean but still! Can't remember the name of the restaurant though, sorry no recommendation for them!

Wednesday, 25th Dec.

It's Christmas Day but Alhamdulillah our trip is still on since they are not closed for holiday! They only closed earlier than usual. So, it's better for you to check before hand if you intend to plan your journey during the public holiday.

Bought return train tickets at the Central Station. Cost us EURO20.20 for all 5 of us to Zaanse Schans.

You can read about our day trip here.

Thursday, 26th Dec

It's Boxing day! Wohoo! But no, I don't go crazy on this day just to shop because many things going crazy cheap! Unless, I've been eyeing on something, and if it's really worth and the price reduce crazy cheap then only I'll grab it. Otherwise, no. I'm not going to queue and get in the crowd.

So, we went to another day trip. This time we went to Madurodam in The Hague.

Details on our trip can be read here.
